Here we are...half way through November...where has the year gone? This year has been a year of challenges, to say the least. Can't really put it into words..other that WOW. We are looking forward to changes in the works, and what the future may bring. One day at a time, and much faith in what is meant to be. ;)

Tanner

The last two weeks have been pretty stressful and sad...Tanner, the oldest of our dogs became very ill. She has been in the Cox family since she was a puppy-15 years-and my girls and I have been blessed with her for almost half of that. She was the princess of the house, and words cannot describe what a funny little girl she has been!
Due to her age, Tanner was not able to recover from her illness, and she passed away on Monday, May 4th. Needless to say, the Cox/Adams clan is broken hearted, and mourning the loss of a very important member of our family. Big Ruben, her day to day doggie partner is a sad boy, he seems lost without her. We are comforted by the fact that she went very peacefully and that she is no longer miserable, as she was in her last days. She was laid to rest very close to us, with her bed and her blanket, as well as a blanket of roses from the girls, picked from her yard. The girls are working on a special marker/stepping stone for her as well-nothing but the best for Tanner-Girl!
R.I.P. Tanner-Girl we miss you terribly and all of us love you very very much!!!!

....Valentines Day....tomorrow....(15 minutes from now)...what will we be doing? Working at The Brandin' Iron, of course!!! We already have enough reservations to give us a full house...should be a great night! Not the greatest way to spend Valentines, working, but at least we will be together, rockin' the steakhouse biz! :) It's a winter wonderland once again in Pine Valley, so here's to a Valentine's Day covered in snow!

This weekend, Trent will be starring in his first college show, Peter Pan! We are all heading up north on Friday/Saturday to see the show, should be a fun time!

Well...what a week it has been so far...challenging and exhausting to say the least! All I can say is that we love our family more than anything in this world and we are so thankful to come home to them and spend time with them every day. If there is only one thing that we can do in this life it is and should be to love our families and put them first! All the kindness in the world really does not mean much if your family is not FIRST on the list of priorities in life!

Faith, Hope and Charity...gets me through the day!

After some much needed time off, Jeff and I and the rest of the crew will open the doors to The Brandin' Iron on Friday, January 9th-for the 2009 season. 2009, here we come! Thursday night, we will be having the annual employee cleaning "party" and we will be having a Mexican food fiesta to reward ourselves for all the hard work!

We hope to have a great year...tell everyone you know...we are BACK!

Wow...one week off and two to go!

Wow. Last Christmas banquet was the Saturday before Christmas and can I just say WHEWWWWWWWWWWWW. It's over!!!!! We LOVE Pine Valley and we LOVE the Brandin' Iron, but my goodness, EVERY SINGLE NIGHT? NOPE. December was rough, but all in all, very successful. We had many happy parties..even more than last year...and it was never more than we could handle. EVEN with my car wreck! haha We have had a week to regroup, and now comes the cleaning...yippee! We are hosting a group effort sometime within the next week or so, after which we will be having a yummy dinner for all of our most fabulous employees-the people that we simply could not do without!!!
We will reopen for the 2009 season on January 9th-ready to roll for another year! In the mean time, I will be working on the website, and Alicia will be helping us with the menu updates-this will be a good year, I can just feel it. :)

Kind People

I received two calls today from people that had seen our flyers and cared enough to call and give us their best wishes. The best call was from a sweet lady that lives up the street from us...she used to raise Shar Pei dogs and left the sweetest, most kind message. She took the time out of her day to let me know how sorry she was and also to let me know that she would watch for Maggie. Thank goodness for the kind people in this world that care enough to take time out of their day to extend a happy thought and to let someone know that they are thinking of them..someone they don't even know. THOSE are the GREATEST people on earth, and they are too few and far between. Thank you neighbor, you gave me hope in the human race today, and for that, I am grateful. :) You will surely be blessed, and hopefully more people will follow in your footsteps.

Well, thank goodness for my own personal Santa Claus-Jeff-he has been a busy boy this weekend, decorating the house with lots of Christmas Cheer! It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas around here! While I am struggling with my "Grinchy" attitude (seems to come around every year at this time!), he is busily decorating to his heart's content! Yet another reason why I love that man oh so very much. :)
